Currencies

An explanation of the various currencies of The Realm Online.

Currencies

“Gold may buy comfort, but true power is forged with rarer coin.”

There are several forms of currency to be aware of throughout The Realm, each serving a different purpose. Some are used for daily trade, others for crafting, and a few are so rare they’re only seen in the hands of event champions.

💰 Gold

Your everyday spending currency. Earn this by defeating enemies, picking up their dropped loot, and selling items to NPC vendors.

Gold is also the standard currency used in player-to-player trades, so it’s wise to keep a healthy amount on hand.

🔮 Mana Crystals (MC)

Mana Crystals aren’t used to buy goods — instead, they’re vital for enchanting gear and crafting powerful weapons or armor.

You can earn Mana Crystals by salvaging unwanted “magical” gear (green quality or higher) using a Wand of Extraction.

🧙‍♂️ How to Extract Mana Crystals:

  1. Purchase a Wand of Extraction from the vendors 1 down and 5 right of the Caer Fandry teleporter.
    • Each wand costs 10,000 gold and has 10 uses before it breaks.
  2. Travel one screen left to the area with the Arcane Well.
  3. Use the wand on the magical item you wish to destroy.
  4. The number of Mana Crystals obtained depends on item rarity:

Item Quality

Mana Crystals Gained

🟩 Green

1–3

🟦 Blue

3–5

🟪 Purple

5–8

🟧 Orange

8–10

🟥 Red

Unknown — few dare to try

⚠️ Important: Only use the wand near the Arcane Well — using it elsewhere will consume a charge without granting any Mana Crystals.

🪙 Copper

Coppers are a rare prestige currency distributed by game staff — most often as prizes during official in-game events or contests.

You can view your Copper total by opening the State tab in your character sheet.

🛍️ Spending Copper: Coppers can be exchanged at the Swap ’n Shop, located 1 right of West Leinster, for:

  • House decorations
  • Functional furniture
  • Unique cosmetics

🕯️ Mabon Marks

A new addition with the Mabon’s Gamble server, Mabon Marks work similarly to Copper but are earned primarily through gameplay.

🔥 How to Earn:

  • Defeat monsters and open chests in the Pit of Anguish dungeon.
  • Dropped from Decoration Hoarders in the Celestial Promenade.
  • Occasionally awarded by event staff (though much more rarely than Copper).

📜 Checking and Spending:

  • View your Mabon Marks under the State tab of your character sheet.
  • Spend them at the Celestial Promenade vendor, located 3 up and 2 right from the Kurz Teleporter, in exchange for:
    • Rare or legacy event items
    • Baldrics
    • New cosmetics
    • Other exclusive rewards
